APR disclosure and range

For a 14 to 31 day term, APRs range from about 208% to 460%. Loans are due on your next pay date, up to 31 days. These APRs are for short term loans from our lender partner in California, at the 15% maximum fee. Shorter terms have higher APRs: a 7 day term at the same fee is about 920%. When lenders that offer other loans join, this range will change.

Your APR depends on the lender, your state, the amount you borrow, the term and your situation. Dino Loan is not a lender, so we cannot confirm the APR you will be offered.

Today our lender partner offers short term loans of $100 to $255 in California, due on your next pay date, up to 31 days. Short term loans have high APRs, as the example below shows.

How the APR works

APR, the annual percentage rate, is the yearly cost of a loan shown as a percentage. It includes interest and most fees, so it gives you one number you can use to compare loans from different lenders.

Under the federal Truth in Lending Act, a lender must tell you the APR, the finance charge, the amount financed and the total of payments before you sign. The finance charge is the cost of the credit in dollars.

For a short term loan with a single fee, the APR is the fee divided by the amount you get, divided by the days, times 365. A $45 fee on $255 for 14 days is an APR of about 460%. For 31 days it is about 208%. The same fee over fewer days means a higher APR.

Who sets your rate

The lender sets your APR and terms. It looks at the information in your request, what it learns when it reviews your request, and the law in your state. You must be 18 or older to apply.

If a lender approves you, it shows you every cost and term before you agree. Read all of it, and accept only if you understand and agree.

California short term loan rules

Each state sets its own limits on loan amounts, fees, interest and terms. California law sets these rules for short term loans (deferred deposit transactions):

  • The total, including the fee, is never more than $300.
  • The fee is never more than 15% of the total.
  • The loan is due in 31 days or less.
  • A lender may charge one returned payment fee of up to $15.
  • A loan cannot be rolled over or renewed.
  • A lender may not make you a new short term loan while you have one outstanding with that lender.
  • A lender may not take collateral for the loan.
  • A lender may not threaten criminal prosecution to collect.

Other fees

Your loan agreement lists every fee your lender can charge, including any fee for a returned payment.

In California, a short term lender may charge one returned payment fee of up to $15.

Before you accept

Read your loan agreement closely. Your APR, fees and repayment terms may differ from anything shown on this site. If something is unclear, ask your lender before you sign.
